FAQS

What makes Hogan Care stand out from the others?

Hogan Care was founded from our director Vilay’s firsthand experience supporting her brother, an NDIS participant.

Vilay’s close connection to the day-to-day operations of the business ensures we remain aligned with the personal nature of our support role. Hogan Care is a registered disability support provider and has recently completed its NDIS audit with flying colours.

We take our responsibility to our participants very seriously, endeavouring to support them to live the lives they choose, in the way they choose. We understand that supported living is not just about running a business, but is an intensely personal aspect of participants’ lives.

While we do not expect to get it right 100% of the time (though we certainly try), we value open communication and feedback to ensure any concerns are addressed and resolved as quickly as possible.

Compassion
We approach every individual with empathy, kindness, and a genuine desire to understand and support their unique needs and circumstances.

Justice
We are committed to fairness, equity, and respect for all, ensuring everyone receives the care and opportunities they deserve, free from bias or discrimination.

Professionalism
We uphold high standards in our conduct, skills, and communication, acting with integrity, accountability, and reliability in every interaction.

Transparency
We communicate openly and honestly, fostering trust through clear, consistent, and respectful information sharing with participants, families, and staff.

Lifelong Learning
We embrace continuous growth and improvement, remaining informed, curious, and adaptable to provide the best possible care and leadership.

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a new way to provide funding and supports to people with permanent and significant disabilities across Australia.

Scope is a registered NDIS provider and delivers services across Victoria
The NDIS provides lifetime supports to individuals who meet the eligibility to criteria. The supports are based on a plan that includes your support needs, goals and aspirations.

We work with you to create a plan to suit your own goals and hopes.

The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) is the organisation managing the NDIS. They have been appointed by the federal government, and are funded by the Department of Social Services (DSS).

The NDIA manage the administration of all NDIS funding, and are able provide information around how the NDIS will work, whether you or the person you care for is eligible, and how you can take part.

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is designed to support people with permanent and significant disabilities. To be eligible for the NDIS, a person must:

Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or hold a Protected Special Category Visa.
Be under 65 years of age at the time of application.
Meet the disability or early intervention requirements.
The disability requirements mean that the person must have a permanent impairment that substantially reduces their ability to participate effectively in activities, or have a developmental delay that requires early intervention.

The early intervention requirements are for children under the age of 6 who have a developmental delay, and who would benefit from early support.

If a person meets the eligibility criteria for the NDIS, they can apply to become a participant in the scheme.

Hogan Care can help you find the perfect property for your needs.

We are a registered provider for the implementation of restrictive practices. We have an experienced, dedicated Quality & Compliance Officer who oversees all restrictive practice approvals and reporting, as our certified APO in Victoria. We work closely with participants’ PBS Practitioners to implement, monitor and minimise the necessity for restrictive practices in our homes.

We engage a registered training organisation (Premium Health) to provide any complex care training required as part of participants’ support needs. This may include dysphagia, complex wound care, bowel care and/or others. We use Etrainu for other mandatory modules. We also engage with participants’ clinical teams to provide individualised training specific to their needs and preferences, prior to transition. Many of our staff hold a certificate III or IV in disability support. Some staff have or are studying nursing, though they are employed only in disability support roles rather than clinical nursing positions. We are registered to provide nursing support, though are not yet offering these services.

We prioritize continuity by maintaining consistent rosters and fostering long-term engagement through professional development and team culture. Consistent rosters help to build rapport with participants and a sense of responsibility for each team member’s role within the household. We offer our staff full-time, part-time or casual support contracts.

We have another house in Ferntree Gully, from whose team we can draw upon to fill any shifts if this team is ever unable to do so from within. Their qualifications and suitability will be considered as part of this allocation. We do whatever we can to maintain staff long term, to minimise retraining and disruption to participants.

We do provide our staff 24/7 support. We have an after-hours line which is always attended by experienced staff members who are able to resolve any rostering or incidents, through their support experience and understanding of Hogan Care’s policies and procedures. Our operations Manager, San is also contactable for urgent inquiries.

Each house will have an appointed team leader to oversee day-today continuity and communication, who report directly to our house coordinators, who in turn report to San.

If there are any gaps in a household’s requirements, we will work with providers and care teams to ensure those gaps are filled as quickly as possible.

Yes, our staff are expected to keep the dedicated staff house phone on them throughout their shift and pass it on to the next worker as part of handover at the end of their shift. Participants are encouraged to use this phone to contact their family / support network, should they wish to.

We work hard at the intake process to garner as much of an understanding of a participant’s needs and preferences as possible, so that we can structure their team and support delivery around them from the outset. Participant’s goals are included as an integral part of our support plans, which we provide in draft format to participants and support teams, to ensure we have included all the necessary information. We implement strategies and review progress on these goals regularly.

Open, consistent communication is another key aspect to ensuring needs and preferences are being fulfilled. Our senior support staff review shifts notes daily and provide monthly reports on each of our houses, tracking progress, reviewing currency and ensuring all aspects of supporting our participants are being attended to. Feedback can be provided over the phone, email, or our online Feedback Form, which is monitored daily.
